Mid Summer Update
Hi everyone, Jenna again with a quick update on behalf of my mom.
The first thing she wanted me to share is that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Being in hospice for this long has brought a mix of emotions, but she’s thankful for the time she has with family and friends, and incredibly grateful for her nursing team.
For the most part, everything has stayed about the same since the last update. Her appetite has decreased and she’s continued to experience more mobility changes on the right side of her body though it hasn’t changed her day-to-day too much.
She continues to enjoy her visitors because they really help break up the day. Her ideal is still one to two visits a day, especially if they’re spread throughout the day. Since talking continues to take more effort, she appreciates when people stop by, share stories, catch her up on life, and do most of the talking (luckily, she has no shortage of chatty friends). Around 30 minutes is still the sweet spot. And while she has loved all the ice cream and treats over the past couple of months, she’s officially requesting a break. ☺️ If you’re planning to visit, she’d much rather hear what’s new in your life or look through recent photos you can share.
She’s still not able to use her phone because of the mobility changes, but we do our best to keep her updated. If you’d like, feel free to leave a funny story, family update, or even a photo in the comments. We’ll make sure to read them to her so she gets to see them.
As always, thank you for continuing to check in, visit, and think of her. We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful summer weather. My mom has been soaking up the sunshine whenever she gets the chance, whether that’s sunbathing or spending some time in the garden. 🌞
Best,
Jenna
